Shea: Hogan’s New Opioid Plan Is All Talk, No Action
BALTIMORE, MD (January 24, 2018) – In response to the Hogan Administration’s announcement of its plan to address the opioid epidemic, Jim Shea released the following statement:
“Yesterday, Governor Hogan held another press conference on the opioid crisis which did not provide any real action to end the epidemic in Maryland.
“Larry Hogan’s so-called plan focuses on suing opioid manufacturers – a lawsuit that Attorney General Frosh has already initiated and continues to pursue even while the Governor denies his office promised budget resources.
“Larry Hogan refuses to consult with local jurisdictions that are on the frontlines of battling this epidemic, and he continues to ignore their repeated requests for additional funding. Instead, Hogan is proposing a feasibility study to offer treatment within the corrections system.
“Marylanders do not need another feasibility study or more lip service from Larry Hogan. We need immediate action in our communities and support for the local officials on the front line of this crisis.”
