Campaign Raised $2.08 Million, Has $1.34 Million Cash on Hand

BALTIMORE, MD (January 16, 2018) – Today, Jim Shea for Maryland announced that it raised $2.08 million for the reporting period ending on January 10, 2018. The Shea campaign also reported over $1.34 million in cash on hand at the close of the period. Accumulated in less than ten months, this impressive total catapults Jim Shea to the top tier of the hotly contested Democratic primary.

“I am truly honored by the positive response our campaign has received and, as a firsttime candidate, I am thrilled that friends, acquaintances, and people I have never met are supporting me in this endeavor,” Jim Shea said. “Thanks to this support, our campaign will compete in all 24 jurisdictions, and I am very confident that we will have the resources to ensure voters across the state hear my message of investing in Maryland and its people.”

The Shea campaign has received nearly 1,600 contributions. It has built a large fundraising network and held dozens of small house party fundraisers across the state, with more than 100 scheduled or in the process of being scheduled in the coming months.

“Our campaign is in a very strong position,” said campaign manager Brian Doory. “These numbers show that our supporters are confident Jim Shea is the right person to take on Larry Hogan in the general election and lead Maryland as Governor. They know he can move Maryland forward.”

Jim Shea is the former Chair of the Board of Regents of the University System of Maryland, the Empower Baltimore Management Corporation, and the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore. He is also the former Chair of Venable LLP, the largest law firm in the state of Maryland and has served on the boards of the Greater Baltimore Committee and the Equal Justice Council.
